After releasing his anger, Cole spends the rest of the day carving an eagle in the pole.

Cole pulled out the knife Garvey had given him and began whittling and shaping the deep groove into an eagle’s head. As he carved, he thought about the eagles he had seen and why they were such proud and powerful hunters. He continued carving until dark.
