What is the importance of Aaron's trumpet in the novel, Touch Blue?

For Aaron, the trumpet represents one of the very few times that the foster system did not let him down. One year for Christmas, Aaron asked for a trumpet and received it. This is important to Aaron not only because he loves to play, but because it affords him the ability to express the things he cannot find the words to say through his music.
