Blindness symbolizes a departure from true justice, truth, and a man’s true nature. Tony is blinded after shooting and killing Ray. He can no longer see the light of day, or the truth that breaks apart the night because he has committed an lawful act by killing Ray. He is blinded from his true nature –which is that of a gentle man, hence he has lost his innocence and his sight of the good things.
