Toms River
How were the owners of the Reich farm deceived by Nick Fernicola as noted in the nonfiction book, Toms River?
.
.
When the Reich Farm, a former chicken farm, went out of business, they needed money. As a result, they rented space to Nick Fernicola, so that he could store drums on their property. Fernicola had no intention of storing the drums, however; he dumped them. He also did not pay the farm the agreed-upon price. As the Reichs' neighbors all sold their farms to developers for big money, the Reichs remained tied to the land no one would buy because it is contaminated.
