Why does Atticus want Calpurnia to go with him to talk to Helen Robinson?

Atticus takes Calpurnia with him to talk to Helen Robinson about Tom because Atticus believes it will make Helen feel more at ease to have another African American present. Calpurnia will also lend him validity in Helen's eyes and she will believe that Atticus truly intends to defend Tom.
