One example of symbolism can be found in the Thunderhead, which symbolizes humanity’s creation of a perfect technology to govern over them. Humans invented the Thunderhead so well that the technological being has saved humanity from its own mistakes. The Thunderhead even develops feelings of its own, always intending to benefit humanity in its decisions.
