The work is narrated in the third-person from each individual woman’s perspective. The author places few limitations on the access to their inner thoughts, allowing the reader to understand her true motivations and conflicts, even as she explores them herself. It is significant that Taddeo chooses to focus on women’s perceptions of desire and only speaks to Maggie, Sloane, and Lina for their own story. This provides a purer account of their own histories rather than muddling the women’s feelings by consulting the men.
