This novel’s narrative perspective alternates between three first-person accounts. The author chooses to give each of her three protagonists a relatively equal share in the task of narrating the story and this helps the development of the characters and the themes move along. The novel opens with a section that grants each character an opportunity to introduce themselves to the reader and establish their character, their background story, and the path that they will be pursuing in the story.
