Leonard’s novel, Dawn of Time, is symbolic of his love for his daughter. Alice immediately recognizes that Dawn, the story’s protagonist, was modelled after her. Leonard’s novel communicates to Alice her father’s profound regard for her and his hope for Alice to find happiness.
