How are the boys treated by the Brickmans in the novel, This Tender Land?

The Brickmans are not kind people and treat all of the students with cruelty. While at Lincoln School, Odie is constantly getting into trouble, his curiosity and strong will often leading to serious punishments. Albert, however, is better behaved, and earns the favor of the school supervisors.
