What is the connection between the residents of Apple Island in the novel, This Other Eden?

The majority of the island residents are in some way descended from Benjamin and Patience Honey. They are therefore historically and ancestrally attached to the land. The island has not only afforded them a physical location to call their own, but a tight knit, interconnected community of individuals who live in peace and harmony in spite of their varied backgrounds.
