How does Judd change over the course of the novel, This Is Where I Leave You?

Judd has the perfect home on the outside, but he leaves his house on a journey to discover how to be an adult and a father. When he returns he has grown as a man. It is after his return that he sees Jen as something other than a sex object for the first time. He has a real conversation with her as his wife.
