Language is an essential tool of communication for Tracy, both in her personal world and in the political one. She uses her language to write letters pleading for help with her father’s case, and to plead for help on The Susan Touric Show. She uses her language to write articles for the school newspaper about Black incarceration rates and police brutality against Black citizens. Tracy’s voice is the most powerful weapon she has in her arsenal, and she uses it frequently in her attempt to rescue both her father and Jamal.
