Most of the characters are portrayed as being self absorbed. Even Zach and Justin who are somewhat sympathetic to begin with end up being on her list. Hannah is portrayed as sensitive, beautiful, and trapped. Clay is really one of the only 'good guys' that she encounters, but he is what we term an unreliable narrator in that he definitely has opinions and he refutes many of the things that Hannah has to say about everyone.
