Why does Naomi have daisies in her hair when she arrives at Knockemout in the novel, Things We Never Got Over?

The daisies Naomi has in her hair when she first comes to Knockemout are symbolic of the state of Naomi's life at the time. She has just lost her job, and, her sister has robbed her off everything of value that she brought. She has to take care of a niece she never knew she had. Her hair was still in the updo she had for her wedding, but it is now quite tattered with daisies messily stuck in it.
