Things We Never Got Over
What makes the public library so appealing to Naomi in the novel, Things We Never Got Over?
.
.
From the text:
“The Knockemout Public LIbrary was a sanctuary of cool and quiet in the Virginia summer swelter. It was a light, bright space with white oak shelves and farm-style work tables.” pg. 93
The library is furnished with oversized armchairs, and there is a community bulletin board on the wall. There is a table that has books from numerous genres. It has green plants and a colorful children’s section. Naomi believes it feels more like a high-end spa than a library. It has peaceful music flowing through the speakers. The library also has a coffee bar.
