Things We Never Got Over is written from the first person point of view. It is not always written from the point of view of the same character, however. Sometimes it is written from the male protagonist’s point of view and sometimes from the female protagonist’s point of view. In general, Naomi’s point of view takes precedence over Knox’s as she is the main character of the novel. She is the one who the plot primarily revolves around, and as such, slightly more of the story is told from her perspective than from Knox’s. Knox’s perspective is also shared throughout the novel quite frequently, however. There is a label at the top of each chapter that says whose point of view is being explored.
