Mr. Brown is a compassionate man, more willing to listen and blend in with the ways of the clan. Mr. Smith is a hard man who believes things can only be one way--his way. I think Mr. Brown is a better religious leader for the people because he tries to understand and identify with the clan. They are inspired by his Christian outlook, whereas they fear Mr. Smith.
