How does the saying "You can never go home again" hold true for Okonkwo when he returns home after seven years in exile?

Okonkwo finds that he does not have the respect or power that he once had. The new religion moved into Umuofia , becoming more ingrained within the clan than ever before. Not only is Christianity growing, but the white man's government is growing , as well. Okonkwo is at a loss at how to stop it.
