What takes place under the maple tree in Central Park?

Miah and Ellie tell each other about their parents and finally settle under a maple tree. As they split a snickers bar, Ellie and Miah continue to get to know about one another and their families. Miah tells Ellie about a poem his mother used to say called, “If You Come Softly." They hold hands and kiss for the first time.
