How does Jeremiah end up in Ellie's history class?

Ellie is sitting in history class, wondering if Jeremiah had left the school, since she had not seen him since the day they bumped into each other. Just as Ellie thinks this, Jeremiah enters the room. He is being transferred from a remedial history class into a class that is a much appropriate level for him. This new class happens to be the same as Ellie's.
