The capital city of the state of Tennessee, and the center of the country music industry in America, is the city in which the author and her husband make their post-marriage home. As such, it is the setting for much of the narrative's latter section, with its portrayal of the disintegration of the author's marriage and home life. It is also the city in which her father dies, having been taken to a hospital there following an accidental fall down a flight of stairs.
