Religious evolution is a recurring idea. Just like social movements of any kind, religions often change and evolve over time, when they are exported to another culture or when new leaders emerge. When Hinduism was first established, there was no mention in the sacred writings or vedas of reincarnation. However, a thousand years later—perhaps through changes in ideology or societal demands. Reincarnation had become an important and integral part of the religion.
