How do Conner and Alex's roles change in Chapters Five through Nine?

In Chapter Five, there is a noticeable change in Alex and Conner, as their roles are reversed. Alex's love of fairy tales has completely consumed her, as she has gotten the wish she had asked for in the previous section. Thus, Conner is now in the role of being the level-headed twin. He is not as impressed with the fairy tale land as Alex is, and he is adamant about finding a way to return home.
