Why does Roz decide to camouflage herself in the novel, The Wild Robot?

Roz decides to begin camouflaging herself for two reasons. First, it will help her survive. Also, by staying out of sight, she can observe the ways and the words of the island's animals better and learn how she might better fit in with her fellow residents.
