Why does Bea create a fictional story in her diary in the novel, The Wife Upstairs?

The unnamed fictional novel that Bea writes her diary in is a symbol of the artifice of the story she writes down in the diary. In the diary, Bea pretends to be an innocent victim of Eddie so she can trick Jane into letting her out of the panic room.
