What is the exposition in the novel, The Widow?

The exposition in the first chapters reveals Jean's back-story and informs the reader why she is constantly pursued by news reporters. These early chapters also indicate that Jean’s husband died a week before the novel begins and establish that Jean is relieved that Glen is gone.
