What symbolism and imagery can be seen in "The Fifth Night"?

Important elements of symbolism and imagery include the image of Balram’s mother on her funeral pyre and the image of her foot escaping the fire. This imagery suggests that on some level, in some way, her body is trying to keep moving forward with its life, and therefore inspiring Balram to do the same.
