What plot developments take place in the first section of "The Sixth Morning"?

This chapter is notable for the slow build of Balram’s anger and resentment towards Mr. Ashok. This is the point where those feelings begin intensifying to the point that what Balram said, at the beginning of the book, about what happened to Mr. Ashok (i.e. that Balram killed him) becomes inevitable.
