What occurs as Pinky Madam drives the car home on her birthday in "The Fourth Night"?

During the drive, in which Pinky Madam is incredibly intoxicated, she runs over what initially is believed to be a dog. However, it soon becomes apparent that Pinky has killed a beggar child. She immediately becomes upset and Balram and Mr. Ashok take control, fleeing the scene and returning to their apartment where Balram cleans the car of evidence of the crime.
