In the aftermath of a meeting with an important government official and as they’re driving past a statue of Gandhi, Mr. Ashok indicates that he’s disgusted with himself for having offered a politician a bribe. This shows Mr. Ashok's sense of conscience, which later becomes trammeled upon in the story.
