How does the author use symbolism in the novel, The White Book?

Death symbolizes the end of things and also brokenness. When the narrator acknowledged her own brokenness, she also used implication to assert that she had died. Death makes a person weak and takes away all that person's power. Death is even stronger than words and prayers.
