The climax comes on the night that Tom has called Pete to babysit Jake for him. Pete is fatally attacked and Jake is abducted by George. The climax stays high as Tom finally looks through Jake’s Packet of Special Things and believes he has found clues that lead him to believe Jake’s teacher, George was the one who abducted him. The climax continues as Tom confronts George despite the danger, and Jake overcomes his fear of seeing his mother’s dead body at the bottom of the stairs to let his father know he is in George’s house.
