The setting of The Westing Game, by Raskin, is a town on the edge of Lake Michigan. The luxury apartment building is for the most part where a majority of the action takes place. The old Westing mansion is also where some of the action takes place. It is set in the modern era with most of the modern conveniences. Cell phones had not be invented, yet, when the book was written, however, so you won't see that sort of technology present.
