What does the plane represent to Mrs. Foster in the short story, The Way Up to Heaven?

The plane represents freedom. When Mrs. Foster finally rids herself of Mr. Foster, her first action is to get on a plane and leave the city. Thus, the plane is the vessel through which Mrs. Foster can finally experience her independence.
