In Section 8, Rhoda is the first to accurately identify the problem between the group as being based on communication. She argues that the lack of any desire to communicate with each other is a reason for their disconnectedness. She identifies the way in which the problems of life all do the same thing. These problems prevent one from being in touch with their child-self when they remained innocent and unified. In a sense, she is arguing that the necessary focus on the self which occurs simultaneously with maturation has been the culprit in preventing the group from existing as an entity.
