Kate and Anthony have in common that they both have considered their mortality. Kate has done this because each time there was a thunderstorm, Kate believed that she would not live through the experience. When Kate learns that her husband did not want to love his wife because he believed he would die young, she tells him that she does not think he will be able to come to terms with his belief until he lives past the age his father was when he died.
