What is hard to reconcile with Dirac's discoveries in quantum mechanics?

Maxwell's unification of magnetism, energy, and electricity is hard to reconcile with Dirac's discoveries in quantum mechanics. Dirac's discoveries are understandable when applying them to the world of atoms. However, it doesn't make sense to consider that a stationary object has zero energy.
