In the concluding remarks of Chapter 6, Hawking expresses the idea that humanity is not going to have extraterrestrial help and is largely on its own to work with its advances in biological and electronic development. That being said, Hawking claims that, in a millennium, the differences between humanity and Star Trek will be quite remarkable.
