What did Penrose and Hawking's theory have to say about the universe's history?

Penrose and Hawking's theory declares that if you look further back into the night sky, you can see more of the universe's history. The further back you look and measure, the greater mass density is. Penrose and Hawking believe that space-time is curved as a whole and that time has no independent meaning from the universe.
