The Unhoneymooners
What is the main setting in the novel, The Unhoneymooners?
.
.
Minneapolis acts as the backdrop for most of the book as it is the hometown of Olive and Ami and where all of the characters reside and where Ami and Dane have their wedding.
The story takes place in January and the weather in Minnesota is a key factor that drives Olive to accept Ami's offer and take her sister's place on her honeymoon. Once returning form Maui, Minnesota is where Olive and Ethan have to adjust to back into their day to day lives, jobs and interactions with family and friends. Minnesota is therefore representative of reality and the struggles that accompany it after the escape of Maui.
