This book is written by a twentieth century American man. He is young and middle aged during most of the story. He is single during most of this story.

The author seems a reasonably intelligent man, obviously trained to some extent in mechanical engineering.

The author writes in clear language. He does not come across as having oversimplified matters, but it is obvious that he has avoided fancy language. The most complex terminology in the book is directly related to race cars and changes they have made to enhance race car performance or to enable faster repairs in the pits.
