How does Apollo change over the course of the novel, The Tower of Nero?

Apollo's character represents both narcissism and learned humility. While this may seem to contradict itself, this is because Apollo is a very complicated narrator who embellishes his feelings to try and make himself look better. However, it is also clear that Apollo has been forced to learn humility over his time as a human and frequently tries to imagine how he can repay people for everything they had done for him. By the end of the novel, he even admits that being humiliated is only the first step and people need to keep fighting despite it. Even when he returns to his godly state, Apollo feels he is no longer a part of their world because he, unlike them, knows what humility feels like.
