Georgie's house is one of the places where readers learn about the strong influence of music in the family as Georgie's mother gives piano lessons and she and his father practice to prepare for performances. It is also where readers learn about the wish his parents had for their child to follow in their footsteps through the poem they wrote which is in Georgie’s room.

Several shifts in Georgie's character take place here. First he is well-adjusted. Then he reaches a low point when he believes that his parents will choose the baby over him because it will be "normal" and musically inclined. Finally he learns to accept change and realizes that he has talents and people will love him no matter what. This is when he creates a new poem for the baby and gives him or her his room.

Georgie’s house, like the school, shows physical changes that had to be made for Georgie, but other than that, his parents treat him like any other child.
