How does the Canada Building get its name in the novel, The Tattooist of Auschwitz?

The girls that work at the warehouses nickname them the “Canada” buildings because they “dream of a place far away where there is plenty of everything and life can be what they want it to be” (73). It gives them hope that there is a place in the outside world that they can dream of.
