The Tables Turned is a lyrical ballad. It is composed of eight four-line stanzas, or quatrains, which give it a total of 32 lines in length. The ABAB rhyme scheme established in the first stanza is followed throughout the poem, although each individual stanza possesses its own unique end rhymes.
