Why did Hinton think the State was doing its best to keep him locked away and quiet?

As the State kept denying his Rule 32 hearing, Hinton was not surprised that the State was doing everything it could to keep him locked away and quite. The State was not willing to admit it had made a mistake. Alabama would rather be wrong than admit it had been wrong. They would rather accept injustice than admit they had been unjust.
