Emanuel, Cooper, and Dillon were hired as ballistics experts. They reported that none of the bullets from the murders and robberies matched Hinton's mother's gun. Plus the recovered bullets and the test bullets did not match. They also discovered that Higgins and Yates had worksheets that were not turned over to Hinton's lawyer. The worksheets showed question marks and missing information that indicated Higgins and Yates did not follow proper procedures and did not record any land or grove information for any of the six bullets. This information proved that there was no way the bullets from the crime scenes matched Hinton's mother's gun.
