How did Hinton get Bryan Stevenson as his attorney?

After Hinton fired his lawyer, Alan Black, a guard helped him get the phone number and address for Bryan Stevenson. Hinton wrote and then called Stevenson. They met at the prison later, and Stevenson agreed to be Hinton's lawyer.
