Who is Ugo?

Ugo is the first artist to take on residency at the Trenthams. He is a young Italian painter, with a huge heart and a generous spirit. Lily and the Trentham daughters adore him. Ugo does well fielding their puerile love, and he fosters a strong bond with each girl. Ugo is an accomplished artist who is not afraid to challenge Evan. Ugo introduces Maria and Jerome to the Trenthams, and vies for the forming of the community. Lily notes that Ugo was the common bond that held everyone together; every member of the household felt close with and confided in Ugo, which allowed him to form objective and compassionate opinions about the subsequent events that occur between Jerome, Eva and Heloise. When Maria and Ugo move out of the Trenthams' to raise their child, Ugo struggles to find work in construction. Later, he and Maria get divorced.
